The direct cause of Earth Day
The direct cause of the events of Land Day is the confiscation by the Israeli authorities of about 22 thousand dunums of lands of Arab villages in the central Galilee region, on the twenty-ninth of February 1976 CE, which included the lands of Araba, Sakhnin, Deir Hanna, Arab al-Sawad, and others. In order to fortify them and establish the Zionist colonies in accordance with the scope of Judaizing the Galilee, where the years 1948 and 1976 CE witnessed the Israeli authorities confiscating more than a million dunams of lands from the western villages in the Galilee and the Triangle, and millions of other dunams of Arab lands whose people were displaced.

On this anniversary, six Palestinian civilians were killed, and dozens were wounded by Israeli bullets, and the names of the martyrs are:
-Khair Ahmed Yassin from Araba.
-Khadija Qasim Shawahna from Sakhnin.
-Mohsen Taha from Kafr Kanna.
-Raja Abu Raya from Sakhnin.
-Khaleel vegetable from Sakhnin.
-Raafat Ali Zuhdi, from Nour Shams camp, was killed in Taibeh.

Founder of Earth Day
American Senator Gaylord Nelson proposed to the US Senate his idea of protecting the environment and increasing the cultural awareness of the people around it in 1962, but it did not receive attention from the House, thinking that the American people do not care about environmental issues, then the surprise was the opposite when 20 million people came out. To support the celebration of the first Earth Day in 1970, after a massive oil leak occurred in Santa Barbara, California, USA, and from here the Senator supported his idea and put it up again to generate a Land Day that includes classes and projects that may help the general public to learn environmental matters and issues.
