Land Day is known as the Day of the Palestinian Intifada, which took place on the 30th of March 1976 CE, when a comprehensive strike was declared on that day, and popular demonstrations began in all Palestinian cities and villages, with the participation of the Palestinian Arab people in the occupied territories; This was in protest against the arbitrary Zionist occupation policy, racial discrimination, confiscation of Palestinian lands since 1948 AD, and the repeated Israeli attempts to occupy lands from its people, and since that day, Land Day has become a Palestinian and Arab national occasion, and one of the symbols of Palestinian Arab unity.

The direct cause of Earth Day

The direct cause of the events of Land Day is the confiscation by the Israeli authorities of about 22 thousand dunums of lands of Arab villages in the central Galilee region, on the twenty-ninth of February 1976 CE, which included the lands of Araba, Sakhnin, Deir Hanna, Arab al-Sawad, and others. In order to fortify them and establish the Zionist colonies in accordance with the scope of Judaizing the Galilee, where the years 1948 and 1976 CE witnessed the Israeli authorities confiscating more than a million dunams of lands from the western villages in the Galilee and the Triangle, and millions of other dunams of Arab lands whose people were displaced.

Names of the martyrs of Earth Day

On this anniversary, six Palestinian civilians were killed, and dozens were wounded by Israeli bullets,  and the names of the martyrs are: 

     -Khair Ahmed Yassin from Araba. 

     -Khadija Qasim Shawahna from Sakhnin. 

     -Mohsen Taha from Kafr Kanna.

      -Raja Abu Raya from Sakhnin. 

      -Khaleel vegetable from Sakhnin.  

      -Raafat Ali Zuhdi, from Nour Shams camp, was killed in Taibeh.

The goal of reviving Earth Day

There are many goals to mark Palestinian Land Day , and they are as follows:

       -Emphasizing the adherence and steadfastness of the Palestinian to his land. 

       -Emphasizing the continuation of the Palestinian march in resisting the occupation.

       -Emphasizing the Palestinians' insistence on obtaining their rights of return, freedom, and independence.

Founder of Earth Day

American Senator Gaylord Nelson proposed to the US Senate his idea of protecting the environment and increasing the cultural awareness of the people around it in 1962, but it did not receive attention from the House, thinking that the American people do not care about environmental issues, then the surprise was the opposite when 20 million people came out. To support the celebration of the first Earth Day in 1970, after a massive oil leak occurred in Santa Barbara, California, USA, and from here the Senator supported his idea and put it up again to generate a Land Day that includes classes and projects that may help the general public to learn environmental matters and issues.

How to celebrate Earth Day

There are some things that people can practice on Earth Day to celebrate it, including the following:

        Avoid using the car : The car is one of the most daily sources of pollution in the environment, so you should spend that day without a car, using many methods, such as: accompanying a colleague to work, taking the train, or riding the bus, or you can arrange to work from home Or, ride a bike. 

        Volunteer : Earth Day is full of volunteer activities that enhance awareness about the environment, such as: planting trees, cleaning gardens, visiting a charity that cares about the environment, and many more.
